Steps to remove "Procrastination"

Did you find yourself constantly pulled in multiple directions by new opportunities?

Here are some small steps by which you can have a more focussed frame of mind.

Set qualification benchmarks for new opportunities, ideas, and/or relationships. This will help keep you on track and help you assess what is worth your time.

Assess incoming requests against internal opportunities and ideas. What will make the biggest impact if you and your team complete it? What could have the biggest negative impact if it isn’t taken care of?

Choose one big idea or project at a time and focus on it. If you have a team, delegate vetting opportunities and initial tasks on other priorities to team members. This way, you stay focused.

Tackle the big things first, then fill in the rest of your time with the mid-sized and smaller jobs you need to take care of on a regular basis.

Set the objectives and intended outcome first. Then break those down into smaller tasks with goal-oriented timelines, and start assigning responsibilities.

Don't use the word "between" !!

It often feels reasonable—and therefore like progress—to throw out a range. With a customer, that may mean saying "I can do this for between Rs. 10,000 and Rs. 15,000." With a potential hire, you could be tempted to say, "You can start between August 1 and August 15." But that word between tends to be tantamount to a concession, and any shrewd negotiator with whom you deal will swiftly zero-in on the cheaper price or the later deadline. In other words, you will find that by saying the word between you will automatically have conceded ground without extracting anything in return.

We have our own Intrapreneurship program called “One Box” which encourages employees constantly to “brain storm on ideas”, “problem solving” and “employees get benefitted financially if an idea is implemented”.

Now what is Intrapreneurship?

“Intrapreneurship is the practice of entrepreneurship by employees within an organization”.

The Difference

An entrepreneur takes substantial risk in being the owner and operator of a business with expectations of financial profit and other rewards that the business may generate. On the contrary, an intrapreneur is an individual employed by an organization for remuneration.

Intrapreneurs share the same traits as entrepreneurs such as conviction, zeal and insight. As the intrapreneur continues to expresses his ideas vigorously, it will reveal the gap between the philosophy of the organization and the employee. If the organization supports him in pursuing his ideas, he succeeds. If not, he is likely to leave the organization and set up his own business.

How to Encourage Intrapreneurship ?

# Make sure people are not afraid to fail. This fear will kill any and all possible innovation.

# Create an in-house team to track the competition.

# Continually ask people what products or services your company could be providing that would be helpful.

# Have people from different departments work with one another to come up with new products and ideas.

# Collect consumer opinion on products that are already on the market.

# Create at least one collaborative venture with another company.

# Ask your employees to openly discuss what they think about your company and where improvements can be made.

# Have each of your managers come up with monthly ideas that will add value to your company.

# Allow people to have some time to have fun !!

# Train employees to help them learn more about creative thinking.

“We’ll get back to you !” is a famous and most dreaded phrase a candidate can hear from a HR on the recruitment day.

Here are some things that the candidates can do to push the recruitment process towards them.

Follow up with an email thanking the interviewer for their time and re-expressing your desire for the job.
Send your thank you email on the same day.
Follow up with a phone call 3 days after the interview. Many hiring managers will observe the candidates who do follow up.

Some dreaded interview Q(s) and Some interview tip(s)

“Where would you like me to start?”

Is this a Q asked by Interviewer or Both ? Answer should be “The Interviewer”.

Where would you start from? from Present? or from Past?

If the interviewer asks this Q, Then always start from previous work experiences and tell them why you’ve chosen the career you’re in.

And DO NOT ask “What do you want to know?”.

Now comes the ALL important Q : “Tell me about yourself”

Always include details about “Who you are”.
Tell them about “things that you’re passionate about”.
Areas of interest and focus.
Some points about “past positive work experiences”.
Tell them “what you can offer to the company”.
Important, don’t take more than 5 min, otherwise the interviewer will fall asleep :-)

Tips ::

Always enter with a positive frame of mind.

You should sound confident. Try a role-play before the interview.

No NEGATIVES please. “Don’t tell them that you are divorced.”

ODD tip ::

If you know “Who is going to interview today?”, then please check his/her FACEBOOK and other social media profiles before entering the interview.

Here are some research tips for “Goal setting and achieving it”

1. When you set yourself a goal, try to be as specific as possible, because it gives you a clear idea of what success looks like. Knowing exactly what you want to achieve keeps you motivated until you get there.

2. Achieving your goal mean grabbing hold of the the available opportunities before they slip through your fingers. To seize the moment, decide when and where you’ll take each action and in advance.

3. Achieving any goal also requires honest and regular monitoring of your progress by you.

4. Be optimistic, Believing in your ability to succeed is enormously helpful for creating and sustaining your motivation.

5. Mostly we focus on goals that are all about proving ourselves, rather than developing and acquiring new skills. Embracing the fact that you can change will allow you to make better choices, and reach your fullest potential.

6. “To have Grit” is a willingness to commit to long-term goals, and to persist in the face of difficulty.

7. Build willpower, How? - take on a challenge that requires you to do something you’d honestly rather not do. Start with just one activity, and make a plan for how you will deal with troubles when they occur. you can take on more challenges and step-up your self-control workout.

8. Playing with FATE : Don’t try to take on two challenging tasks at once, if you can help it. And don’t put yourself in harm’s way.
